Boone Daily News.  This is a reprint edition of the Boone Daily News for May 26, 1901 commemorating the 100th anniversary of the C&NW “Kate Shelly High Bridge” between Ogden & Boone and was issued in December 2001 by the Boone County Historical Society.  It has the full text of the original articles and pictures; also recent information about the bridge. Especially interesting because a new parallel bridge has just been opened.  Excellent condition, 4 pages & will be mailed in a tube.  [cb]   Photo

CRIP Interest – A place mat from the Jesse James Restaurant, Adair, Iowa commemorating the world’s first robbery of a moving train on July 21, 1873 on the CRIP about 1-1/2 miles west of Adair.  The robbery is described in detail.  14-1/2” x 11”, excellent condition and will be mailed flat.  [cb, z]   Photo

D&RGW Narrow Gauge Interest – The Valley Courier.  The Valley Courier (newspaper - Alamosa, Colorado) for June 25, 1971 with a feature article announcing the  resumption of trains on the former Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge line between Chama, New Mexico & Antonito, Colorado, this time operated by the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.  The first trip ran the day following, on June 26, 1971 from Chama to Antonito, followed by the return trip to Chama on Sunday, the 27th.  Engineer for this trip was retired D&RGW narrow gauge engineer Ben Greathouse.  The newspaper features a beautiful, front-page color photograph of Engine 483 pulling out of Sublette, Colorado on one of the many trips made to transfer equipment.  8 pages, excellent condition.   [cb]   Photo

Midwest Magazine Section of the Chicago Sun-Times for 09/08/1968.  This Sunday magazine section salutes the steam locomotive – “Gone but Remembered.”  One article is titled “The Age of Steam” is by David P. Morgan.  Another article features Chicagoan Dick Jensen who owned the GTW 5629 and two other ex CB&Q steam engines.  Nicely done, illustrated in color, 11” x 13”.  Included with this item is a 4-page illustrated article from the Chicago Sunday Tribune Magazine for 8/23/1964 titled: “The Vanishing American,” this written around a steam powered fan trip on the CB&Q with the 5632.   [cb]   Photo

The Railroader Seniority Guide & Directory of Railway Transpiration Employees in the Omaha Nebraska Area.  A 1938 edition listing engineers, firemen, conductors, brakemen, switchmen, baggagemen, stewardesses, Pullman conductors and a few other crafts on the Union Pacific, CB&Q, Missouri Pacific, C&NW, Milwaukee & Omaha (they may mean CStPM&O), Pullman Co. and the South Omaha Terminal Ry., giving in most cases addresses and seniority dates.  A great resource for the genealogist.  5-1/4” x 8-1/4”, 72 pages, used, but in good condition.   [wt]    Photo

Time, Trip & Pay Records – C&NW Engineer Albert G. Pearson.  These records cover 1941, 1943, 1949, 1951, 1952 & 1956 through September when Mr. Pearson retired.  Information for each trip includes engine number, fireman’s name, train number, miles run, origin and destination, mileage and pay amounts plus other notations.  Mr. Pearson worked out of Green Bay, Wisconsin.  6 time books are included, each covering a full year.  [bca]  [bcd]
