Vecchie of Taylorville, IL,
this video covers steam on the Chicago & Illinois Midland including the
last scheduled passenger run. Steam on
the CB&Q, NKP, NYC & IC is also shown together with 1st
generation diesels on the Wabash, NYC, MP, Alton & Southern, CRIP and
others. It winds up with coverage on
the Illinois Terminal R.R. About 100
minutes.

Freight Tunnels. This was filmed during a private inspection
on 07/19/1994, a little more than 2 years after the freight tunnels were
accidentally flooded on 04/13/1992.
Starting under 327 S. LaSalle St., the video takes us north under LaSalle St., comes back, goes east
under Van Buren St. to Clark St. then north under Clark St. to Jackson Blvd
and winds up looking west under Jackson.
Privately filmed; this may be the only copy. About 30 minutes.

video set covers the east-west main line from Chicago to Omaha and Fremont along with a “side trip” to Rockford. It was
taken during the 1993 flood and shows the California Zephyr detouring over
the C&NW with Metra E-units leading the train. Covers 3 complete divisions in 3 states and
includes scenes showing 10 other railroads.

The Green
Bay Route. Railroads
powered entirely by Alco diesel locomotives are few in number. The Green Bay & Western Railroad had a total
of sixteen operating Alcos when this show was filmed in 1992, GB&W's last
full year of operation as an independent company. The railroad had an affinity for Alcos
since diesels first replaced steam locomotives, keeping them well maintained

Mariners in Hard Hats. Documents the
construction of the Southern Pacific line over the Great Salt Lake that
replaced the trestle portions of the 1904 Lucin Cut-Off with a dry land
causeway. The work was done by the
Morrison-Knudsen Corp between 1956 and 1959.

Haven Railroad in the 1950’s. Kent
Cochrane, a navy cinematographer, set out in the 1950’s to chronicle the New
Haven Railroad and did an excellent job.
This video was produced from Kent’s 16 mm films that were made available by the
late Tom McNamara. Included are the
RDC cars, and a variety of other power including electrics, Alcos RS-3’s
& FA’s, General Motors FL-9’s and others plus the last New Haven steam
engine 2-8-2 number 3016 making its final trip in 1953. Greg Scholl, 60 minutes.

York Central – An Insider’s View. The New
York Central of the 1940s was a first-class railroad, with a never-ending
parade of freight and passenger trains traveling over the well-maintained
tracks of the Water
Level Route.
Steam was king as World War II began and into this world came Fred Beach.
Hired in 1941, Fred went trackside between 1941 and 1954 to record the many
activities of this great railroad.
This video is taken from Fred’s reels, and includes rare footage never

of Sterling, IL
and covers numerous roads in the 1950’s and 1960’s with emphasis on the
C&NW where Don worked as a locomotive engineer. These include the PRR, B&O, CB&Q,
RF&P, IC, C&O, NYC, NKP & others.
A commercial B&O film is included.
Also an interurban section featuring Dallas street cars, CTA, CA&E, Milwaukee Transport & others. The video winds up with some 1991 shots at
the Mid-Continent R.R. Museum at North Freedom, WI. Some of the early film did not transfer too
well. About 80 minutes.

1957 when Southern
Pacific Cab Forward 4274 left Sacramento for its final journey across Donner Pass. This historic event was
